Points Per Visit Loyalty

Previously, the loyalty points system in the POS supported Points Per Dollar. With this feature, members earned points based on the amount they spent on an order. For example, if a customer purchased products worth $100, the system calculated and added points according to the configured Points Per Dollar value. Customers could then use their accumulated points on future purchases to receive discounts. A new loyalty feature called Points Per Visit has now been introduced. This feature allows stores to reward customers with a fixed number of points for each visit and purchase instead of calculating points based on the order amount.

What is Points Per Visit?

The Points Per Visit loyalty feature allows stores to reward members with a fixed number of loyalty points each time they complete a purchase.

Unlike Points Per Dollar, where the number of points depends on how much the customer spends, Points Per Visit awards the same number of points regardless of the order total.

For example, if Points Per Visit is set to 100:

The customer earns 100 points for each completed purchase, regardless of the purchase amount.

Points Per Visit Availability

Points Per Visit is currently available only for stores located in Ontario.

To enable the feature, go to:

Admin → Settings

and enter a value greater than 0 in the Points Per Visit field.

The feature is automatically enabled when the value is greater than zero.

How Points Per Visit Works?

When Points Per Visit is enabled, customers receive a fixed number of points for each completed purchase.

The number of points does not depend on the order total.

For example, if the store has configured:

Points Per Visit: 100

a customer who spends $20 earns 100 points, while a customer who spends $500 also earns 100 points.

Points are awarded based on the configured Points Per Visit value for each completed purchase.

Switching from Points Per Dollar to Points Per Visit

Points Per Dollar and Points Per Visit cannot be active at the same time.

When the Points Per Visit value is greater than zero:

Points Per Dollar is automatically disabled.
Customers no longer earn points based on the amount they spend.
Customers earn the configured fixed number of points for each completed purchase.

You do not need to manually disable Points Per Dollar when enabling Points Per Visit.

How to Disable Points Per Visit?

To disable the feature, return to:

Admin → Settings

and set Points Per Visit back to 0.

When the value is set to zero, Points Per Visit is disabled.

⚠ Important: Setting Points Per Visit above zero automatically enables the feature and disables Points Per Dollar.

Redeeming Points with Points Per Visit

When Points Per Visit is active, the previous Discount by Rewards Points redemption option is no longer available on the Apply Discount screen after the Balance Due.

Creating a Customized Discount for Reward Points

To allow customers to redeem their accumulated Points Per Visit rewards, create a customized discount from:

Pricing → Customized Discount

The customized discount should be configured according to the store's reward redemption rules.

The customized discount provides the method employees will use to apply a reward discount during checkout.

Applying a Customized Discount During Checkout

Once the Customized Discount has been created, employees can apply it during checkout when a customer wants to redeem their available points.

The employee should:

Open the discount options.
Select the configured Customized Discount.
Apply the discount to the order.

Important Notes

Points Per Visit and Points Per Dollar cannot be active at the same time.
Setting Points Per Visit to a value greater than zero automatically activates the feature.
Setting Points Per Visit back to 0 disables the feature.
Points Per Visit rewards customers based on completed purchases, not the amount they spend.
When Points Per Visit is enabled, reward redemption is handled through Customized Discounts.
