Web Menu Category Management
The Web Menu Category Management feature allows users to organize and maintain the categories displayed on their online menu
Overview
The Web Menu Category Management feature allows users to organize and maintain the categories displayed on their online menu. Users can:
- Re-order web menu categories
- Rename categories
- Delete categories
- Control which categories display on the Web Menu
This feature helps stores keep their online menu organized and customer-friendly.
Accessing the Web Menu Categories Page
- Log in to the TechPOS Back Office.
- Navigate to: Menu > Web Menu > Menu (Categories) List
- The Web Menu Categories page will display all configured menu categories.
On this page, users can:
- View category names and descriptions
- Check category status
- Edit category details
- Delete categories
- Re-order categories using drag-and-drop
Re-Ordering Web Menu Categories
Users can customize the display order of categories shown on the Web Menu.
Steps to Re-Order Categories
- Open the Web Menu page.
- Locate the drag handle beside the category name.
- Click and hold the drag handle.
- Drag the category to the desired position.
- Release the category to save the new order.
Important Notes
- The updated order will reflect on the Web Menu.
- Categories displayed higher on the list will appear first on the online menu.
- Changes are saved automatically after re-ordering.
Renaming a Web Menu Category
Users can rename existing categories without affecting inventory or product records.
Steps to Rename a Category
- Open the Web Menu page.
- Locate the category you want to update.
- Click the Edit icon.
- Update the category name and/or description.
- Save the changes.
Important Notes
- Renaming a category only updates how the category appears on the Web Menu.
- Product inventory and product records are not deleted or modified.
Deleting a Web Menu Category
Users can remove categories from appearing on the Web Menu.
Important Behavior Before Deleting
A category must first be set to Inactive before it can be deleted.
Steps to Delete a Category
- Open the Web Menu page.
- Locate the category you want to remove.
- Change the category status to Inactive.
- Click the Delete icon.
- Confirm the deletion.
What Happens When a Category Is Deleted
Deleting a category from the Web Menu has the following behavior:
- The category is removed from displaying on the Web Menu.
- The category is removed from the Web Menu Categories list page.
- All linked categories connected to the main category will also be removed.
- Products and inventory records are NOT deleted from the system.
- The deletion only affects Web Menu visibility.
Linked Category Behavior
Some Web Menu categories may contain multiple linked categories under one main category.
When deleting a main category:
- All linked categories associated with that main category will also be removed from the Web Menu.
- This action only affects online menu display.
- Product records remain intact within TechPOS.
